BTA gets new office-bearers

Outgoing chairman of the BTA Mohd Safwan Choudhury presiding over the 54th AGM of the Association in Chittagong on Saturday.

Mr Ardashir Kabir, Mr M Shah Alam and Mr Kamran T Rahman have been elected chairman, senior vice chairman and vice chairman respectively of the Bangladesh Tea Association (BTA).

They were elected for the term 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 at the 54th annual general meeting (AGM) of the Association held in Chittagong on Saturday, said a press release.

Other members of the Association are: Mr M Wahidul Haque, Mr M Salman Ispahani, Mr Mohd Safwan Choudhury, Mr HSM Ziaul Ahsan, Mr Seraj Uddin Ahmed, Mr Kazi Istiaq Ahmed, Mr M Nurul Alam, Mr M Samad Chowdhury, Mr Tahsin Ahmed Choudhury, Mr Morshedul Alam Quaderi, Mr Riazur Rahman, Mr SN Taher.

Among others, Mr Ardashir Kabir, Mr M Shah Alam, Mr SS Iftekhar Ahmed, Mr SN Taher, Mr HSM Ziaul Ahsan, Mr Mir Mahbubul Haque, Mr Fahmida Husain Khan and Mr Morshedul Alam Quaderi were present at the AGM.  

The outgoing chairman presented his report on the major activities of the Committee of the Association for the year 2013-2014 at the AGM.

The AGM approved the Association's Accounts for the year that ended on December 31, 2013 and appointed Auditors to audit Association's accounts for the year 2014.

In his presidential address, the outgoing chairman expressed the hope that the new Executive Committee would be successful in resolving the pending issues of the tea industry and help increase the industry's contribution to the national economy.

In his address, the newly-elected chairman assured all of the industry that he would try his best for the development of the Association.

He also sought cooperation and assistance from all the members in this connection.
