CHITTAGONG, June 24: A business delegation from Bangladesh, while visiting the US, has expressed hope that the tour will be mutually beneficial for business societies of both the countries.
The visit will also add value to the diplomatic relations of the two countries, they added.
US Ambassador in Bangladesh Dan W Mozena led the delegation to the US on a five-day business tour on June 19-23.
The delegation - Bangladesh Business Ambassadors - consists of business leaders from various local sectors.
The delegation members are: managing director of Western Marine Shipyard Sakhawat Hossain, vice chairman of Aman Group Tahsin Aman, managing director of Dird Group Nabeel-ud-Dawlah, managing director of Bangla Trac Tarique Haque, managing director of Orion Group Salman Karim, managing director of Golden Harvest Group Rajeeb Samdani, and chief executive officer of Fortuna Bangladesh Fayaz Taher.
Speaking of the visit, Sakhawat Hossain said shipbuilding is one of the most emerging sectors in Bangladesh, and there are high possibilities of future collaboration with the US ship owners in this regard.
Bangladeshi shipbuilders have exported their products to Europe and a few Asian countries, but yet to receive any order from the US, although it is a big market for shipbuilding, he pointed out.
Mr Hossain expressed hope that they will be able to secure orders from the US in the coming days.
It will also add value to Bangladesh-US bilateral trade, he continued.
