Businessman rescued from Gazipur forest hours after kidnap

GAZIPUR, May 12 (UNB): Police rescued a businessman from the forest in Ranipur area of Sadar upazila Sunday evening, after hours of his abduction.

The victim was identified as Gopal Biswas, an exporter of crabs and fishes and resident of Uttara area of the city.

Police, quoting the victim, said Gopal was abducted from the Bhawal National Park area in Gazipur by a group of miscreants Sunday noon.

The kidnappers demanded a ransom of Tk 5.0 million (50 lakh) and threatened to kill him if the money was not paid.  

The kidnappers later left him in the area with his eyes, hands and legs tied.
