Businessmen urged not to make abnormal profit in Ramadan

KHULNA, June 11 (BSS) : Speakers here Thursday at a views exchange meeting urged the businessmen not to make abnormal profit during the holy month of Ramadan.
They appealed to all businessmen, especially who are engaged in business, to extend their cooperation towards the government in controlling the price hike of essential commodities during the month.
Lawmaker of Khulna-2 constituency Mizanur Rahman Mizan exchanged views with the local elite, leaders of different organisations including civil society, government officials and law enforcement agencies at Khulna City Inn Hotel for keeping sanctity of Ramadan.
Chairman of Khulna development Authority (KDA) Brig Shamsul Haque, Chief Engineer Wahid Azhar, Panel mayor of KCC Anisur Rahman Biswas, Deputy Commissioner of Khulna Md Mostofa Kamal, former presidents of Khulna Chamber of Commerce and Industry(KCCI) Sheikh Nazrul Islam, Munir Ahmed, former vice-president of Bangladesh Frozen Foods Exporters Association M M A Salam, former president of Bangladesh Jute Association, Sharif Fazlur Rahman, Secretary General of Bangladesh Inland Vessels Transport Owners Association and vice president of KCCI Saiful Islam, Women Leader and editor of DailyTribune Begum Ferdousi Ali, among others, spoke.Over three hundred leaders and activists of different socio-cultural and political parties, representatives of different professional bodies and journalists attended the meeting.
Referring to the price hike in the past, the speakers urged the businessmen to cooperate actively with the government in bringing down the prices of all essential items during Ramadan.
Mr Mizan asked the leaders of the trade bodies and local administration to monitor kitchen markets during the holy Ramadan.
