Cabinet committees approve 11 projects costing Tk 12b

The cabinet committee on public purchase and the cabinet committee on economic affairs separately approved on Wednesday 11 projects that involve over Tk 11.96 billion.
Building of new railway line on Kashiani-Gopalganj-Tungipara route and rebuilding of railway line on Kalukhali-Batiapara at a cost of over Tk 7.05 billion are among the approved projects.
After the meeting, additional secretary of the cabinet division Md Muksodur Rahman Patwary briefed journalists about the outcome of the meetings.
The projects that the cabinet committee on public purchase approved are rehabilitation of embankments and related structures of cyclone recovery and restoration in Barguna and Pirojpur with the financial assistance of the World Bank being implemented by the Bangladesh Water Development Board at a cost of over Tk 1.32 billion and procurement of low dose oral contraceptives pill- LDOP at a cost of Tk 589 million.
The committee also approved construction of 4-storey boys' dormitory building with 6-storey foundation, construction of 4-storey girls dormitory building with 6-storey foundation, construction of 4-storey parents dormitory building with 6-storey foundation, construction of 15-storey multipurpose building having 20-storey foundation and sinking and installation of 200 mm x 400 mm dia deep tube well involving over Tk 380 million while Tk 1.81 billion for governance and infrastructure improvement (GII) consultancy under city governance project of the local government department.     
The projects that the cabinet committee on economic affairs approved are building of 360 residential flats and its other utility services for government officers at Mirpur section-2 at  a cost of Tk 50.08 million, construction of Dasar thana in Madaripur at a cost of Tk 67 million and development of lakes at Purbachal new town at a cost of over Tk 370 million.    
Finance Minister AMA Muhith presided over the meetings at the cabinet division. Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Agriculture Minister Begum Matia Chowdhury and state minister for labour Md Mojibul Haque (Chunnu), among others, were present.
