Call for gearing up anti-formalin campaign

GAIBANDHA, July 7 (BSS): Speakers at a function here on Sunday stressed the need for creating much awareness among the people about misuse of formalin to keep them fit physically through avoiding health hazards.

"Formalin is a colorless liquid with strong and irritating smell. It is commonly used in aquarium to kill parasites that live on fish. It is used for the purpose only in very dilute to avoid harming the fish", they said.

They made the comments while addressing a view exchange meeting with the media men on controlling formalin using for fish preserving in the conference room of the district fisheries office here on Sunday.

Department of Fisheries organized the meeting on the occasion of the National Fisheries Week-2014.
