Campaign on cyber security awareness begins today

FE Report | October 01, 2018 00:00:00

The Cyber Crime Awareness Foundation (CCA Foundation) is set to launch a month-long cyber security awareness campaign across the country today (Monday).

The CCA Foundation has taken up the initiative to mark October as the National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM).

The NCSAM is worldwide promoted by the National Cyber security Alliance (NCSA) of the USA under the Department of Homeland Security.

The theme of the NCSAM this year is 'securing the Internet is our shared responsibility'.

CCA Foundation president Kazi Mustafiz stressed the need for raising awareness across the country all the time, saying, "It is now essential like our everyday meals."

"There is no alternative to creating awareness among the users of cyber technology to protect them," he told the FE, adding that collective efforts are vitally important to fight the global menace.

The campaign will be conducted by the CCA Foundation from October 1 to 29, putting focus on a different topic, consistent with this year's NCSAM theme, each week.

The topics are 'Make Your Home a Haven for Online Safety', 'Millions of Rewarding Jobs: Educating for a Career in Cyber security', 'It's Everyone's Job to Ensure Online Safety at Work' and 'Safeguarding the Nation's Critical Infrastructure'.
