CCCI pays tribute to Hedayet Hossain Chy

CHITTAGONG, Jan 17: Trade body leaders said today Hedayet Hossain Chowdhury was one of those few educated Bangalees of the then Pakistan who initiated very successful business enterprises on a limited scale.
The leaders were addressing a Doa Mahfil and condolence meeting at the death of the late business tycoon at the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) in the city. The CCCI organised the programme.
Chaired by CCCI president Mahbubul Alam, the meeting was addressed by MA Latif MP, also member of the parliamentary standing committee on the ministry of shipping as the chief guest, Sabiha Musa MP as the special guest, noted industrialist and HRC Group of Industries chairman Sayeed Hossain Chowdhury, CCCI vice president Syed Jamal Ahmed, directors Mahfuzul Hoque Shah, MA Motaleb, Kamal Mostafa Chowdhury, Ohid Siraj Chowdhury, Mahbubul Huq Chowdhury and Md Jahangir.
MA Latif suggested that an event of the centenary of the journey of the CCCI be named after late Hedayet Hossain Chowdhury. He also requested the members of the family of late Hedayet Hossain Chowdhury to set up a hospital after his name and said he would himself arrange the necessary land for that purpose.
Mahbubul Alam said late Chowdhury had been playing an important role for the development of business and industry in Chittagong region and said founder chairman of the HRC Group would ever remain as a torch bearer in the country's economic sector.
Sabiha Musa MP said despite the fact that late industrialist Chowdhury was not born in Chittagong he had always been maintaining a special relation with Chittagong for which he will remain at the core of hearts of the people of this region.
Sayeed Hossain Chowdhury gave an illustrious account of the life of his father. He urged the Chamber leaders to follow the ideals of his father and remain united in the chamber.
