The country's Cellular Phone Operators have stood against the regulator's initiatives of breaching monopoly in the market and ensuring consumer rights.
The operators in the name of 'business case' are opposing the Consumer Protection Guideline, which the regulator has formulated after a long time to ensure the interest of customers.
Talking to BSS, M Sarwar Alam, secretary and spokesperson of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), said the regulator has formulated the Consumer Protection Guideline so that the customers get the actual services they are paying for.
"Every customer has the rights to get quality service against their payment, and as the regulatory body, BTRC has the responsibility to ensure it," he added.
