Chinese team, BCCCI focus on investment scopes

A China-Bangladesh Enterprise Consultation Meeting was held on Tuesday at the office of Bangladesh China Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCCCI) in Gulshan, Dhaka in honor of welcoming a 25-member high-profile delegation from the Anhui Provincial People's Governmentof China and the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh, says a press release.

The meeting mainly focused on bilateral collaborations in sectors like solar energy, agriculture, electric vehicles, cold storages and garments, which aligns with Bangladesh's growing thrust for improving the greater value-added sectors like these.

The Chinese delegation, led by Vice Governor of Anhui Provincial People's Government Mr. Sun Yong, included the Vice Mayor of Hefei Municipal People's Government Wang Haixia. The meeting was attended by Mr. Liu Yuyin, Minister Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh, Han Kun, President of Chinese Enterprises Association in Bangladesh (CEAB), Administrator of BCCCI Mst. Nargis Murshida, Members of BCCCI and representatives from CEAB.

Mst. Nargis Murshida in her welcoming address expressed her high expectation that the government of Bangladesh, would ensure all possible cooperation in materializing these investment initiatives through all procedural stages with infrastructural support and basic utilities required to set up new or expanded existing industrial enterprises.

Mr. Sun Yong, leader of the Chinese delegation, in his address noted that China attached great importance to take scientific and technological innovations as the top priority and, that coupled with investment collaboration from China can bring a major shift in manufacturing and export quality products in Bangladesh.Apart from this there are ample scopes to export jute and jute goods, leather and many other non-traditional goods from Bangladesh.

He remarked that after the recent visit of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the honorable Chief Adviser of the People's Republic of Bangladesh to China new vistas have opened in bilateral cooperation including exploration of the untapped blue economy of Bangladesh.

Mr. Liu Yuyin, Minister Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh while appreciating the role of BCCCI in expediting bilateral trade and commerce, opined that people to people contacts in augmenting trade and investment exploration would be beneficial to enterprises of both the countries.

The Vice Mayor of Hefei City Mr. Wang Haixia in his address noted that Bangladesh is a major partner of China's Belt & Road Initiative and China finds it expedient to enhance are areas and scopes of bilateral cooperation.

BCCCI members present at the meeting with interestsespecially in sectors like solar energy, agriculture, electric vehicles, cold storages and garments, including Mr. Sheikh Amin Uddin of Akij Group with stakes in Electrical Vehicles and Electrical Bikes from China, while former BCCCI Acting President Mr. Mohd. Khorshed Alam discussed on the potentials of Chinese investment in textile sector of Bangladesh and Mr. Sk. Ruhul Amin, Member of BCCCI took the floor mostly on exploring avenues for potentials in solar energy sector, all of whom floored the interests for investment collaborationsfrom manufacturers of China in general and from Anhui Province in particular.
