Commerce adviser seeks policy reform proposals from ICAB

Commerce Adviser Sk. Bashir Uddin visited the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) on Thursday.

Commerce Adviser Sk. Bashir Uddin has urged the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) to put forward specific policy reform proposals for the country's financial sector, particularly focusing on the direct and indirect tax regimes.

The call came during his visit to the ICAB on Thursday, says a statement.

The adviser also urged the Chartered Accountants to work together for the betterment of the nation's financial sector.

ICAB President Mohammed Forkan Uddin briefed the adviser on the Institute's contributions to enhancing discipline, transparency, accountability, and good governance in the country's economy.

ICAB is a primary regulator of the accountancy profession, he said, highlighting the Institute's role in producing a skilled workforce of Chartered Accountants, who play a vital part in conducting statutory audits in accordance with the Company Act, 1994.

He also sought support from the Ministry of Commerce for professional development.

ICAB Vice President MBM Lutful Hadee, Vice President Maria Howlader, ICAB Immediate Past President Md Moniruzzaman, Council Members & Past Presidents Kamrul Abedin and Nasir Uddin Ahmed, Council Member Md Mahamud Hosain, Chief Executive Officer Shubhashish Bose, and Chief Operating Officer Mahbub Ahmed Siddique, also spoke.
