Commerce minister urges sector-based export plans to tap Saudi market

Commerce Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir has urged businesses to submit sector-specific and realistic proposals to expand Bangladesh's export footprint in Saudi Arabia and the Middle Eastern market.
He assured exporters that the government is ready to provide all necessary policy and financial support if they move away beyond conventional approaches and adopt strategic, sector-based plans.
The minister made the remarks during a meeting with a delegation from the Saudi Arabia-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SABCCI) at his secretariat office on Sunday.
Highlighting Bangladesh's heavy reliance on the readymade garments (RMG) sector, the minister noted that there is immense untapped potential in Saudi Arabia for Bangladeshi pharmaceuticals, leather goods, jute products, and agro-processed foods, alongside RMG products tailored to local Saudi consumer preferences.
During the meeting, SABCCI President Ashraful Haq Chowdhury highlighted that Saudi Arabia offers massive trade opportunities for Bangladeshi products and services.
