Construction of modern Khulna Railway Station begins in Dec

KHULNA, Sept 20 (BSS): The construction work of modern Khulna Railway Station will begin in December involving Tk 450 million. The Railway Authority will call tender for the purpose by the end of this month (September).

On March 5, 2011, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at a public meeting at Khalishpur in the city had promised that the Awami League government will build a modern Railway Station in Khulna, lay Khulna-Dhaka double Rail line and introduce Khulna-Dhaka commuter Railway service as early as possible.

Chief Engineer of Railway South Zone Mahbul Haque Bakshey told the news agency today that the Railway Ministry has already made a design for the modern Khulna Railway Station as per directive of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

He said the Ministry has called pre-qualifying tender for appointing contractor for building the Railway Station.
