Cooperative movement for poverty-free Bangladesh stressed

RANGPUR, Dec 28 : Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) Mayor and Freedom Fighter (FF) Sarfuddin Ahmmed Jhantu today stressed for strengthening cooperative movement to enhance productivity in building poverty-free Bangladesh. Mr Jhantu, also president of Rangpur Central Cooperative Bank Limited (RCCBL), said this, while presiding over the 57th annual general meeting of RCCBL at Town Hall auditorium in the city. Mir Anisul Haque Payara, president of Kutubpur Union Multipurpose Cooperative Society and FF Majibar Rahman Master, Member of RCCBL AKM Azizul Islam Raju, Deputy Registrar (Admin) of Rangpur Divisional Cooperative Office Irene Sultana, District Cooperative Officer Abdul Wahed, Officer-in-Charge of RCCBL Zahedul Islam, addressed the meeting. Officers, employees and members of RCCBL, leaders of different upazilas and union level cooperative societies and organisations, civil society members and local elite, participated in the day-long meeting. The RCC Mayor called for strengthening cooperative movements at the grassroots levels, enhancing cooperative loan schemes for the poor, small and marginal farmers, entrepreneurs and other backwards sections in the society.      — BSS
