Country on right track to achieve SDGs: Maleque

With electricity facility in every house, US $1,888 per capita income, 8.13 per cent GDP growth and decreasing rate of infernal and maternal mortality, Bangladesh is on the right track to achieve the SDG goals by 2030.

This was stated by Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque while addressing an international conference on 'World Health Service-Achieving the SDGs 2030" in New Delhi as the chief guest, a press release said in Dhaka, reports BSS.

He is now in the Indian capital leading the Bangladesh delegation at the conference.

"The health sector of the country has improved a lot. Thousands of community clinics are providing health service at the doorsteps of the people. The construction work of eight cancer hospitals in the eight divisions, hospitals for liver cirrhosis is progressing rapidly", said Maleque.

The way Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is directing the nation, Bangladesh will achieve the SDG goals before 2030, he commented, the release said.

To promote global health, the Bangladesh minister highlighted four key issues to the world leaders and said that the whole world should unite for rapid global health development.

India's Health Minister Harsh Vardhan presided over the conference.
