Country\\\'s private airlines doing brisk business

Private airlines business in the country is showing a tremendous growth with the increasing number of travellers both at home and abroad, sector insiders said.
Now-a-days more corporate and business personnel are choosing air journey for saving their time which is helping to boost business, they said.
The private airlines are introducing new routes one after another following the growing business.
At present, three local airline companies like United Airways (BD) Limited, Regent Airways and Novo Air are operating their flights on domestic and international routes.
In view of the growing demand two more new private airliners--- US-Bangla Airlines and Epic Air are set to fly in Bangladeshi sky soon, according to the sources.
The industry is growing by 10 per cent annually, sector insiders said adding, the market size of passengers is worth around Tk 40 billion per annum.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority, Bangladesh (CAAB) Around 4.0 million passengers fly from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to different domestic and foreign destinations.
Experts and the industry insiders attributed better services and management of the private airlines to the booming business.
'The private airlines always give priority to comfortable journey leading to its significant growth of business", Chairman and Managing Director of United Airways Tasbirul Ahmed Choudhury told the FE.
He said last year United Airways carried around 0.3 million passengers which was around twenty per cent more than a year ago.
He said the growth was because of good management and better services to the passengers.
He said United started its operation in 2007 and now it is one of the largest private airliners in the country.
The country's private airlines are now operating on more international routes from Dhaka to Jeddah, Dubai, Muscat, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Kathmandu and Kolkata and also from Chittagong to Muscat and Kolkata.
The airlines have also a plan to operate from Dhaka to Singapore, Doha, Dammam, Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, Karachi and Yangon.
Imran Asif, Chief Executive Officer of Epic Air, a consortium of some local firms said demands for airlines are increasing on both domestic and international routes, because of the gradual improvement in economic activities of the country.
He said private airlines companies always perform their duties properly thus making their services more acceptable to the customers.
He said rush to the airways is because of poor condition of the road links.
