Ctg IT fair begins

CHATTOGRAM, Jan 26: The three-day IT fair started at the World Trade Centre in the city today.

Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury Nowfel MP inaugurated as chief guest the second IT fair, jointly organised by the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) and the Society of Chittagong IT Professionals.

He said there is huge potential for expansion of the information technology sector in the port city as the government has taken projects for establishing IT park and IT village here.

The port city will also become an IT city in near future with different initiatives already taken by the government, Mr Chowdhury said, adding that the sector will generate huge employment for the educated youths of the district.

He called upon the businesses and entrepreneurs of Chattogram to come forward with investment in the IT sector alongside the government initiatives.

The deputy minister said the businesspeople of Chattogram inherited business and trading from their forefathers, but it is now high time for them to cope with the changed situation and invest in the modern day businesses, which will immensely benefit them with incentives by the government.

Presided over by CCCI President Mahbubul Alam, the inaugural ceremony was also addressed by CCCI Vice President Syed Jamal Ahmed and the Society President Abdulla Farid.
