Rizwan Bin Farouq, Chairman, Board of Trustees, The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Foundation Bangladesh; and Dr. Mohammad Nuruzzaman, Group CEO, Daffodil Family; sign a MoU on Tuesday.

In a landmark step toward empowering technical and vocational students, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Daffodil Education Network (DEN) and The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Foundation Bangladesh on Tuesday, says a statement.
The MoU was signed by Rizwan Bin Farouq, Chairman, Board of Trustees, The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Foundation Bangladesh, and Dr. Mohammad Nuruzzaman, Group CEO, Daffodil Family. Rathindra Nath Das, Executive Director, Daffodil International Professional Training Institute (DIPTI) & Daffodil Technical Institute (DTI), was also present at the ceremony.
Under this partnership, students from five leading polytechnic institutions, including Daffodil Polytechnic Institute, Daffodil Technical Institute, Daffodil Institute of Engineering and Technology, Bangladesh Skill Development Institute Chattogram and Daffodil Institute of IT Chattogram will now have the opportunity to participate in The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award.
This partnership marks a historic milestone -- being the first-ever collaboration between The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award and a technical education institution, not only in Bangladesh but also globally. Through this pioneering initiative, students from technical and vocational institutions will now be able to participate in the globally recognised Award programme.
Rizwan Bin Farouq described this visionary initiative as a "noble milestone that will enable students to be world-ready and grow into future leaders."
He emphasised the importance of such opportunities in shaping a skilled and responsible generation.
Dr. Mohammad Nuruzzaman remarked, "This partnership is a major step forward in integrating global best practices in personal development into technical education. It opens up unparalleled opportunities for our students to grow holistically."
This MoU represents a shared commitment to inclusive education, global exposure, and youth empowerment, setting a precedent for similar collaborations worldwide.
The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award, initiated by HRH Prince Philip in 1956, currently operates in 120 countries and territories worldwide.
In Bangladesh, the programme was introduced in 2008, and has since been embraced by 116 leading educational institutions, providing non-formal education opportunities to young individuals aged 14 to 24 years.
