DCCI urges Belgian businesses to invest in BD

President of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) Osama Taseer on Tuesday called upon the investors of Belgium to invest more in Bangladesh, reports BSS.
He said this while Belgian Ambassador to Bangladesh Francois Delhaye called on the DCCI president at the DCCI conference room in the city, said a press release.
Osama Taseer said that in 2017-18 Bangladesh exports to Belgium worth of US$ 629.89 million and imports from Belgium worth of US$ 191.14 million.
"Total trade between Bangladesh and Belgium in FY 2017-2018 counted over $ 821.04 million," he informed.
In order to boosting the bilateral trade, he urged Belgium to set up Belgium embassy in Bangladesh.
Francois Delhaye said that there are potential sectors like power, energy, port, dredging, jute and jute goods, agriculture, agro-processing in Bangladesh where Belgian investors may invest.
He informed that a Belgian trade delegation will visit Bangladesh later this year.
He stressed importance on exchange of trade delegation between Bangladesh and Belgium to enhance know-how and investment.
DCCI Senior Vice President Waqar Ahmad Chowdhury, Vice President Imran Ahmed and Counsellor (Economic Affairs) of Belgian Consul Guilaume Choquet were also present during the occasion.
