Demand for agriculture loan waiver up to Tk 5,000 would be placed before the Cabinet.
State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Moshiur Rahman Ranga said this while addressing the 37th annual general meeting (AGM) of Bangladesh Samabay Bank in the city Saturday, reports BSS.
He said a total of Tk 4.25 billion has been paid as interest and recurring interest on the agriculture loan of the farmers.
Mr Ranga said Awami League in its previous tenure had taken many initiatives for the welfare of the farmers, but those were not continued while it left the office.
He said the Samabay Bank has made Tk 120 million profit facing adverse environment. Building for the bank would be constructed to bring dynamism to the bank, added the state minister.
