The government will form district level committees to provide loan facilities for the development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

The committees will monitor the collateral free loan disbursement facilities for SMEs including women entrepreneurs at district level, according to a press release.

The decision was made at a meeting on Tuesday on the occasion of the 'Deputy Commissioner (DC) Conference-2019' at the Cabinet Division in the city. It was jointly organised by Ministry of Industries, Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Textile and Jute.

Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun was the chief guest while Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, Textiles and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi, Prime Minister's Private Industry and Investment Adviser Salman Fazlur Rahman and State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder were present at the meeting.

Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam presided over the meeting while DCs from all 64 districts participated.

Industries Minister said the government is working for planned industrialisation in the country. To this effect, they have set up industrial estates and parks in prospective areas.

The entrepreneurs of the areas are enjoying policy supports, and those will be continued for their development, the minister added.

Mr Humayun urged the DCs to implement the Vision 2021, Vision 2041, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Delta Plan 2100 as per the declaration of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Kamal Majumder stressed showing zero tolerance for contamination of foods across the country. He also suggested using modern machinery during mobile court's drive to identify any heath-hazardous chemicals in food items such as vegetables and fruits.
