FE Report

The month-long 30th Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF)-2026 concluded on Saturday at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre in Purbachal, leaving behind export leads worth nearly US$18 million and renewed hopes for market diversification.

Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) data showed that participating firms secured potential export orders of U$17.98 million (Tk 2.24 billion), the key takeaway from the annual trade show.

The orders were generated mainly for diversified jute goods, electronics and electrical items, home appliances, cosmetics, hygiene products, processed food, handloom, home textiles, nakshi kantha and fabrics.

Buyers from Afghanistan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, India, Pakistan, Malaysia and Turkey placed the orders.

Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin announced the closure of the fair as chief guest, while Commerce Secretary Mahbubur Rahman presided over the ceremony.

FBCCI Administrator Md Abdur Rahim Khan and EPB Vice-Chairman Mohammad Hasan Arif attended as guests of honour.

A total of 329 domestic and foreign enterprises took part in the exposition.

Organisers said the fair was increasingly becoming a platform for order generation rather than retail sales, as exporters used the event to showcase new products and negotiate with visiting buyers.

An on-site survey identified several new exportable items, including bamboo-based lifestyle products from the Department of Prisons, diversified jute goods and rosella tea from Joyeeta Foundation, vegetable-dyed garments from BSCIC, Dhakai muslin from the Handloom Board, jute tapestry from JDPC, six-month shelf-life Ready-to-Eat biriyani from Apex Foods and blended blue tea from the Bangladesh Tea Board.

Alongside export leads, domestic sales worth Tk 3.93 billion-including restaurants-were recorded, up 3.42 per cent from the previous year, reflecting strong consumer response.

Forty pavilions and stalls were awarded at the closing ceremony.
