GAZIPUR, Sept 4 (UNB): The Department of Environment (DoE) on Wednesday fined a dyeing factory in Sreepur Upazila of the district for causing pollution through discharging untreated effluent into Nablong canal.
After a hearing at the DoE headquarters in Dhaka, its director (monitoring and enforcement) Mohammad Alamgir slapped a fine of Tk 2.50 million on Crown Wool Wear Dyeing Ltd.
Mr Alamgir also ordered the authorities of the factory to set up an effluent treatment plant within next three months.
