The e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB) organised a roundtable discussion at its Dhanmondi office in the city to celebrate the International Women's Day. Nazma Quader, publisher, monthly Computer Jagat, was the chief guest at the roundtable. The event was presided over by e-CAB President Razib Ahmed, according to a statement.
Welcoming the attendees, Razib Ahmed said, "The main goal of e-CAB is to establish e-Commerce as a major driver for economic growth of the country. We must have women in e-Commerce to materialise this goal."
In her speech, Nazma Quader expressed her satisfaction over the activities of e-CAB with female entrepreneurs. She said that the number of women in the ICT sector is not satisfactory and e-Commerce is an emerging field. More women should come to this sector.
Sarah Zita in her keynote speech said, "Women are half of the population of our country. They, along with men, are involved in mainstream economic development. Yet they are facing obstacles."
She also said, "e-Commerce is a blessing for small and medium entrepreneurs. There are many problems in the sector and we should work together to remove these obstacles."
e-CAB president pledged to provide all necessary support to the women.
Among others, Md Abdul Wahed Tomal, general secretary of e-CAB , Asif Anif, director (communications) and Rezwanul Haque Jami, director (government affairs), were present at the event.
