TIRANA, May 22 (Xinhua): European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will provide 60 million euros (about US$82 million) to support small and medium-sized businesses in the Western Balkans, according to the ATA news agency.
EBRD Western Balkans director Claudio Viezzoli said Wednesday the funds would be disbursed over a two-year period to support small and medium-sized enterprises' (SMEs) technical development and innovative projects.
Viezzoli made the announcement during a presentation on the Enterprise Expansion Fund, which supports private companies operating in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Kosovo and Montenegro, at a time when businesses in the region are facing financial difficulties.
Since the beginning of its operation in the Albanian market, the EBRD has invested more than 700 million euros ($957 million) in different sectors.
