CHATTOGRAM, May 17: Eid shopping has gained momentum as city dwellers in the port city Chattogram are visiting different shopping centers to buy their choice-able dresses for them ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of the Muslim community.
On the weekly holidays on Friday and Saturday, the gatherings of buyers in the markets of the port city see high-tide. On other days, after the iftar-time, the buyers used to come to market for purchasing their Eid items.
New-market, Mimi Super Market, Afmi Plaza, Finlay Squire, Sanmar Ocean city, Amin centre, Central Plaza, Amin centre, Reazuddin Bazar, Chackview Market, Moti Tower Market, Keari Shopping Complex Singapore market, Laki plaza Arong, Cats eye, Chattogram Shopping Complex, Tari Bazar, Hawkers market and other shopping centres at GEC intersection, Chattogram Export Processing Zone area markets and markets of Bahadarhat areas are attracting most of the crowd in the port city.
The shopping centers remain busy from 10.00 AM to midnight in the last few days that remain open for customers till Eid, market sources said.
Markets authorities decorated markets to woo the thousands of shoppers to buy their special dresses.
A large number of pop-up shops as well as fashion houses in almost all localities in the city have sprung up and are crowded with customers.
Large numbers of buyers are rushing to saree and panjabi, three-piece for women are very high, those are well designed and attracting most of the consumers.
Customers and traders said the price of all types of clothes and apparels has gone up by this year in comparison with last year.
The Central Plaza, Mimi super market, Ocean City, New Market, Lucky Plaza and Teri bazar are the first choice of the women for their eid shopping. They come from middle class families.
According to traders of Mimi super and Chattogram shopping complex, Salwer Kamij is priced between Tk 2000 and Tk 20,000 per price while sarees are sold between Tk 2000 and Tk one lakh. Three piece is priced between Tk 2000 and Tk 20,000 and lehenga between Tk 3000 and 25,000.
Several hundred of customers most of them are women were crowded at Teri Bazar, Mimi super market, Laki plaza and Central plaza and were busy in shopping in the port city today.
