Eighth ATCO AGM held

Newly-elected directors of the Association of Television Channel Owners pose for a photo at a city hotel on Wednesday.


The eighth Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Executive Committee Election of the Association of Television Channel Owners (ATCO) was held at a city hotel on Wednesday.
No president, however, was elected as both the presidential candidates -- Chairman of NTV Mohammad Mosaddak Ali and Chairman of Banglavision Abdul Haque - received an equal number of votes.
Election Commissioner Iqbal Hasan said they will hold the election at a convenient time for the president post. At a press briefing, he announced the names of other elected officials.
Anjan Chowdhury, current President of ATCO and Managing Director of Maasranga Television, presided over the event.
Managing Director of Desh TV Arif Hasan was elected as general secretary for 2024-26 session while Chairman of DBC News Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury as vice-president and Director of Channel i Zahiruddin Mahmood Mamun as treasurer.
The AGM was attended by Chairman of NTV Mohammad Mosaddak Ali, Chairman of ETV Abdus Salam, Chairman of Ekattor TV Mostafa Kamal, Director of Channel i Zahiruddin Mahmood Mamun, Managing Director of Desh TV Arif Hasan, Chairman of Bangla Vision TV Abdul Haque, Vice-Chairman of RTV Jasim Uddin, Vice Chairman of Asian TV Liaquat Ali Khan Mukul, Deputy Managing Director of Boishakhi TV Tipu Alam Milon, Chairman of DBC News Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, Managing Director of Deepto TV Kazi Zahedul Hasan, Managing Director of Nagorik TV Navidul Huq, Director of Somoy TV Md. Hasan, Managing Director of T-Sports Safwan Sobhan and other dignitaries.
Following the press conference, President Anjan Chowdhury expressed the hope that the media will be vocal about rights issue and freedom of expression. He called on everyone to contribute to the development of the country.
