Entrepreneurs urged to diversify agro market

Entrepreneurs have been urged to come forward with innovative ideas by assessing potential market values of agro-products.
Agriculture experts made the appeal while speaking at a seminar organised by Palli Karma Sahayan Foundation (PKSF) on "Expanding the horizon of opportunities: Promoting innovative enterprise" in the city on Tuesday, reports BSS.
The PKSF organised the seminar as part of celebrating its 25th founding anniversary.
The experts said Bangladesh has vast potentiality of expanding agro-industry as its land is too fertile to produce wide varieties of crops and fruits.
Chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) Md Golam Hossain, agriculture scientists and representatives of non-government organisation, among others, addressed the seminar with member of the board of directors of PKSF Dr MA Quashem in the chair. PKSF Chairman Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad, PKSF Managing Director Md Abdul Karim and senior officials were present at the seminar.
Executive Director of Habitat and Economy Lifting Programme Mir Al Mamun and Coordinator of Jonobiggan Foundation Ayub Hossain made separate presentations.
In his presentation, Mr Mamun said, "We have tremendous prospects to transform agriculture sector into agro-industry as some potential varieties of crops and fruits are available in the country."
There is better value addition to fish resources, mashroom, rice, jackfruit, ladies finger and coconut, he said, adding, "We can produce fish fry, fish oil and different other food items from fish resources side by side we can produce testy rice crackers from local rice varieties and candy and chips from jackfruits. All of these food items have vast market value."
