Bangladesh requested the European Union (EU) on Thursday to import more products so that the country could become a middle-income one by 2021.
The request was made at a meeting between the Textiles and Jute Minister Emaz Uddin Pramanik and the EU Ambassador to Bangladesh Pierre Mayaudon at the minister's Bangladesh Secretariat office on the day.
Mr Mayaudon assured the minister of providing support for the development of country's textiles education.
"We requested the EU to import more Bangladeshi products to EU market considering the recent hike of workers' wages," the minister said.
About the attack on the BNP leader Reaz Rahman on Tuesday last Mr Mayaudon told the media after the meeting, "It is unwanted. We want peaceful solution to the political crisis".
"The government will investigate into the attack on Reaz Rahman," Mr Pramanik said.
