BRUSSELS, May 15 (Xinhua): Eurozone annual inflation was 0.7 per cent in April, up from 0.5 per cent in March, Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, said Thursday.
Meanwhile, the annual inflation was 0.8 per cent in the 28-member EU, up from 0.6 per cent in March. A year earlier, the rate was 1.4 per cent in the EU.
Among the EU member states, the negative annual rates were observed in Greece at 1.6 per cent, and Bulgaria at 1.3 per cent, while the highest annual rates were recorded in Austria and Romania, both at 1.6 per cent.
Compared with March, annual inflation fell in the EU's seven member states, remained stable in four and rose in sixteen.
The largest upward impacts on the eurozone's annual inflation came from package holidays, tobacco and electricity consumption, while fuels for transport, telecommunications and vegetables had the biggest downward impacts.
