Eviction of all illegal riverside infrastructures demanded

Speakers on Tuesday demanded eviction of all illegal infrastructures from riversides in the country.
Their demand came at a press conference at the city's Mukti Bhaban. It was organised by the National Committee to Protect Shipping, Roads and Railway (NCPSRR).
They also emphasised on formation of a technical expert committee for checking fitness of 13 imported dredgers and two rescue vessels.
Ashish Kumar Dey, convener of the NCPSRR, presented the key-note paper while Nurur Rahman Selim, presidium member of Ganatantrik Party and president of Green Club of Bangladesh, Abdur Rahman, former professor of BUET, M Inamul Haque, chairman of the Water and Environment Institute, among others, spoke at the press meet.
The speakers also stressed on dredging the Mongla-Ghashiakhali river channel to ensure its navigability  and also formation of an expert committee for investigating all kinds of irregularities and corruption in this sector.
