Export to Kuwait leaps 133pc in three years

Around 100 business firms are likely to participate in the second Bangladesh Trade Fair in April this year in Kuwait to be organised by Bangladesh-Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BKCCI).
The sectors, which would be represented, are manpower exporting firms, pharmaceuticals, ceramics, banks and insurance, garments, leather goods, real estates, tourism, food and information and communication technology.
President of the BKCCI, Mohd Habibur Rahman at a press conference in the city Saturday said despite visa problem, their first fair was successful and after the first fair export from Bangladesh to Kuwait increased by more than 133 per cent to $35 million in the last three years.
He said "We hope the upcoming fair will also introduce Bangladeshi products in the Middle East market through the fair from 23rd April to 25th April."
He said the business firms have been benefitted from the first single country trade fair, where 41 Bangladeshi business firms participated and due to their increased business this year more firms are showing their interest to participate in the fair.
Both commerce and foreign ministers of Bangladesh, Kuwait commerce minister, Bangladeshi ambassador in Kuwait, Kuwait ambassador in Bangladesh are likely to be present at the opening ceremony in fair.
