A four day long international Garments Accessories and Packaging Expo 2015, Garmentech and yarn and fabric sourcing fair will kick off tomorrow (Wednesday).
The announcement came at a press conference held at the national press conference on Monday.
Industries minister Amir Hossain Amu is expected to inaugurate the fair as chief guest at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre.
Textile and Jute minister Emaj Uddin Pramanik, state minister for Finance and Planning MA Hannan, deputy governor of the central bank SK Sur and BGMEA President Md Atiqul Islam will attend the inaugural ceremony as special guests.
Bangladesh Garment Accessories Packaging Manufacturers & Exporters Association (BGAPMEA) in association with ASK Trade and Exhibitions Pvt Ltd will organise the event.
BGAPMEA President Rafez Alam Chowdhury said export oriented garments accessories and packaging sector earned US$ 4.75 billion during fiscal year 2013-14.
He expressed the hope that the local apparel accessories and packaging makers will able to export worth US$ 12 billion by 2018 if they get government policy support.
These fairs will display different garment accessories and packaging products and its related machinery. It will create a platform for sourcing machinery and new technologies from different parts of the globe, which will help explore the business opportunity.
The backward linkage industry makes around 35 items including button, carton, package, elastic, drawstring, embroidery, interlining, label, padding, poly bag, sewing thread, zipper, plastic items, back board, neck board, gum tap, and bar code.
Around 30 countries including India, Pakistan, China, Taiwan, Australia, Germany and Dubai will take part in the fair.
There will be 632 stalls in the fair, which will remain open from 11 am to 8 pm everyday. The visitors will enjoy these fair through registered their names at the venue.
A seminar on Greening the garments accessories and packaging industries will be held on January 17 at the sideline of the expos.
Prime minister's Finance Adviser Moshiur Rahman is expected to attend the ceremony as chief guest in the closing ceremony.
Parliamentary standing committee on the Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry Md Tajul Islam, Civil Aviation and Tourism secretary Khorshed Alam Chowdhury and National Board of Revenue member (customs, export and bond) Khandaker Aminur Rahman are expected to attend as special guests.
BGAPMEA second vice president Abdul Kader Khan, vice president Moazzem Hossain Moti, vice president (finance) Mazharul Hoque Shahid and ASK Trade and Exhibitions Pvt Ltd director Nanda Gopal K were present at the press conference.
