The Farmers Bank Ltd. is putting in efforts to make the institution operationally sound and safer for its clientele, a top executive said on Saturday.
Md Ehsan Khasru, managing director and chief executive officer (CEO) of the bank, said: "A process is well underway to make it safer for customers, employees and shareholders."
He made the remarks while opening a professional learning course for trainee assistant officers at the bank's training institute in Dhaka's Mirpur area.
As part of a major overhaul, Farmers' clients are now getting online banking service at all the branches across the country, Mr Khasru said.
He urged the trainees not to get involved in corruption that tarnishes the bank's image.
"Wrongdoing of any type can impede the bank's ongoing renovation to turn it safer for everybody," he said.
Mr Khasru called for them to be obedient, punctual, and dutiful in their regular banking activities to strengthen its rebranding programme.
The course was a part of the bank's restructuring process initiated by the new management following changes in its ownership in recent months.
As planned, the private commercial bank has already made a move to change its name and expand its branch network nationwide.
A total of 256 officers from the bank's 57 branches and its head office will take part in the learning course in four phases.
Sixty-five officers participated in the first phase.
