Expressing deep concern over the 48-hour dawn-to-dusk hartal today (Thursday) and September 21, the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Wednesday called upon the political party to withdraw the strike for the sake of the country's economy, reports BSS.
"Business and investment friendly environment is now prevailing in the country and the reserve of foreign currency, remittance, investment, exports and imports are witnessing a positive trend, which is encouraging the foreign investors to the country," said a statement issued by the apex trade body.
"In these circumstances, any kind of negative activities such as hartal would affect the country's image severely and investors will be discouraged to come up with investment," it said.
Besides, the Board of Investment has organised an International Investment Forum-2014 and interested foreign investors are now staying in the country, said FBCCI. "So, hartal would create negative impact on the country's business environment, which is never desired."
"The businessmen never support any kind of anarchy as well as damages to life and assets in the name of hartal," said FBCCI.
