The country's apex trade body on Tuesday assured Bangladesh Tourism Board (BTB) of extebding all-out cooperation for successfully holding the upcoming 10th Islamic Conference of Tourism Ministers (ICTM) in Dhaka.
The leaders of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) gave the assurance during a meeting with the BTB team for the key global tourism event, scheduled to be held on February 5-7 in the capital, according to a press release.
It said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the 10th Islamic Conference of Tourism Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (IOIC) on Feb 5.
Tourism ministers from 57 OIC member countries, heads of the OIC institutes, representatives of international organisations and tourism experts will participate in the three-day event.
The FBCCI will make a power-point presentation on 'Investment Opportunities in Tourism Sector of Bangladesh' at the conference.
Highlighting huge potentials of the country's tourism sector, FBCCI President Md Shafiul Islam (Mohiuddin) during the meeting said that Bangladesh can be a key destination for tourism not only for visit, but also for Textile Tourism, Art and Culture Tourism, Health Tourism, and Religious Tourism.
He mentioned that the government has also put due emphasis in this sector by announcing various programmes, including the 'Tourism Year'.
FBCCI, as the apex trade body of Bangladesh, is putting its all possible efforts in the development of tourism sector, he said.
Dr Md Nasir Uddin, Chief Executive Officer of Bangladesh Tourism Board urged the FBCCI to be closely involved and provide necessary cooperation in highlighting 'the tourism potentials and investment attraction' during the conference.
Dr Nasir also sought sponsors and other necessary cooperation from the FBCCI to make the conference a success.
The FBCCI leaders assured the BTB team of all-out cooperation from the private sector.
FBCCI Senior Vice President Sheikh Fazle Fahim and Vice President Md Muntakim Ashraf took part in the discussion, among others.
