The first surf club on Cox's Bazar seashore has created recreational opportunity for both local and foreign tourists, a tour operator said, as experts suggested far more facilities to cash in on the world's longest unbroken sea beach blessed with a natural panorama.

He said different guests are asking him for reservation in the surfing club as they want adventure in their holidays.

Tim Steel, a British consultant for the club, said the local investment in the world's longest beach for surfing in the bay waves has added a new dimension for the visiting people who want to make fun.

Currently, the tourists on the beach have nothing to do except for walkabout, taking shower and staying in their hotel or motel suites.

An official in Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation (BPC) said the beach visitors are missing recreational funs like beach volleyball, Frisbee, surfing boats, beach mini-golf and the like.

He said the private investment for the first time in establishing a surf club would pave the way for more private investments for recreational facilities for the tourists.

"It is a great fun in surfing over the high tide of our Bay of Bengal waters that our tourists have been missing for long," he said.

Another official in the Bangladesh Tourism Board said, "We are trying to add recreational tools for the tourists. These are being made with private-party investments."

Eng Aminul Islam, Managing Director of the investing company, Project Builders Limited, said they want to fill up the current gap by creating marine recreational facilities.

Apart from enjoying sunset down the beach, the visitors will now get marine recreations like surfing boats and swimming in safe, he informed.

Mr. Islam said, "As part of tourism development on the beach site we have also a plan to invest money in establishing a mini-golf club and other recreational facilities."

He said though the club would be fully functioning from next month, but already it is heavily booked. There are trained rescue team to work as safeguards for the surfers.

He said the club concept is designed and engineered by British specialists and a British person is in charge of the club.

Consultant Tim Steel says: "This begins as a boutique holiday resort."

He said the club kitchen will offer British cuisine consisting of famous fish and chips, roast beef and Yorkshire pudding.

In the suites the guests will also be entertained with breakfast, mid-morning snacks, light lunches and traditional afternoon tea.

The Surf Club is established in one acre of land on the beach site. It currently has eight guest suites.

According to another BPC source a good number of entrepreneurs are going to invest in the beach area for constructing five-star hotels, resorts, motels and other recreational clubs.

The BPC official noted that, in the growing domestic tourism business, it has become necessary to invest in diversified ways so that the tourists can feel comfort and they make their holidays with full of funs and pleasures.

If new dimensions are added, the number of inbound holidaymakers from different countries would increase alongside the domestic visitors.
