Flourishing industries, helping local entrepreneurs stressed

RANGPUR, Jan 5 (BSS): Flourishing local industries and promoting entrepreneurs of Rangpur stressed for creating job opportunities for the unemployed people and also enhancing economy of the region.

Speakers said this while addressing the launching of month-long 'Rangpur Industry and Trade Fair (RITF)-2015', being organised by Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) at Police Lines Ground in the city today.

The speakers put importance on ensuring production of quality products maintaining international standard to enhance business at the national level as well as increase exports abroad to face the challenge of globalisation.

The fair is being arranged with a view to flourish local industries and enhance production of quality goods by the local entrepreneurs, exhibition and introduction of the produced goods for expanding business, trade and commerce through competitions.

Divisional Commissioner Muhammad Dilwar Bakht inaugurated the fair as the chief guest with President of RCCI Mostafa Sohrab Chowdhury Titu in the chair.

Acting Deputy Inspector General (DIG) for Rangpur Range of Bangladesh Police Humayun Kabir attended the ceremony as the special guest.

Vice-president of RCCI Golam Zakaria Pintu delivered welcome speech while its Senior Vice-president and Convener of its Industry and Entrepreneurs Development Sub-committee Mostoba Hossain Ripan narrated goals and objectives of the fair.

A total of 90 stalls have been set up in the month-long fair by the private sector local entrepreneurs, industries, bodies and organisations from all over the country.

The speakers said there is no alternative to producing quality products ensuring international standard quality through creating demand and acceptance of those in the competitive global markets to increase export in taking the nation forward.

The chief guest said the fair would help exploring brighter prospect for industrialisation in Rangpur region where the Uttara Export Processing Zone in Nilphamari has been functioning excellent producing export-oriented high quality products.

He said there is no deficit of electricity in Rangpur region and the local entrepreneurs have been doing well and they would do even better when natural gas would be supplied through pipe lines for its quicker industrialisation and uplift.

He also requested the industrialists, entrepreneurs and businesspersons for flourishing industrialisation, trade and business to create more employment for the local people to improve their socioeconomic condition in building a medium income nation.

The acting DIG said the fair would play vital role in promoting local entrepreneurs and industries, creating employment for the unemployed people and enhancing economy of Rangpur region and also provide recreation facilities for the citizens.
