Terming Bangladesh as a potential investment destination for ICT sector, State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam has invited foreign investors to invest in the sector to further its growth and for mutual benefit.
The state minister made the invitation while speaking at a seminar organised by the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Service (BASIS) titled 'Investing in Bangladesh: Practical Information and Key Constraints' in the city on Tuesday, reports UNB.
"The present government has been giving importance on the ICT sector for more than five years with a view to transforming our country into digital Bangladesh," he said.
The state minister said the ICT sector infrastructure has been changed significantly, making the dream of having digital Bangladesh true. "Mass people of our country are now getting ICT services."
He mentioned that Bangladesh is now considered as one of the promising investment destinations in the world for the initiatives taken by the government and the private sector.
Director General, International Cooperation from the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Christian Rebergen and Netherlands Ambassador in Dhaka Gerben Sjoerd de Jong also spoke as special guests at the seminar chaired by BASIS president Shameem Ahsan.
BASIS senior Vice President Russell T Ahmed delivered the welcome speech and its executive director Sami Ahmed made a presentation highlighting different aspects of the ICT sector of Bangladesh.
