Four-day int\\\'l ICT expo in city in June

An international information and communication technology (ICT) exposition is going to be held in the city next month.
At least sixty government organisations will participate in the Digital World to showcase their automated e-governance services and products.
Several ICT professionals told the FE the international event would be a common platform for both government and private entrepreneurs who are exporting software and doing outsourcing jobs.
Young ICT professionals would get scopes at the event to showcase their excellence in different fields like developing robots, drones, mobile software technology, automation, decoding and encoding.
Scheduled for June 4-7 the expo is being organised by the ministry of information and communication technology and the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS).
The government's e-commerce, e-tendering, e-ticketing, e-health, e-learning, e-taxation and other automated services would also figure in the show.
An official said apart from the existing automated products, the show might provide necessary information about how to improve the government's e-governance and e-commerce services.
A source with the BASIS said the 117 local and foreign participating companies would bring together their software and many other products.
To impart ICT knowledge to chief executives of different conglomerates and multinational companies, a special CEO Night has also been arranged by the organisers.
The BASIS official said, "Our talented IT professionals are doing a lot of work both in local and international markets."
He said doing outsourcing jobs in the global market, mobile application for telecommunication companies and IT-based product innovation at different universities were being currently done by the young IT generation.
So, if they could demonstrate their products and get support from different levels, the young IT people would feel more encouraged.
An official source said, "We are trying to invite an internationally-renowned IT professional to attend the four-day programme."
Besides experts and consultants from thirty countries are likely to attend the exhibition and they would take part in seminars and discussions.
A BASIS member entrepreneur said despite many hurdles the local software development industry was growing and exports to many countries were also increasing every year.
He said the digital technology was changing the entire economy and the lifestyle.
