Prices of flats in 'Uttara Apartment Project' undertaken by the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) will go up as tenders have been invited afresh for their construction.
Neither Public Works Department (PWD) nor Rajuk, however, said anything about the extent of the anticipated price rise, reports bdnews24.com.
Officials of PWD and Rajuk informed the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Public Works of the anticipated price hike at the panel's meeting held in parliament building on Sunday.
Committee member AKM Fazlul Haque told reporters after the meeting: "New tenders have been invited after cancellation of the previous tenders. Bidders have quoted prices higher than previous prices. That's why flat prices will rise."
The committee asked PWD, Rajuk to give a report on the rise in the next meeting.
The meeting was informed that tenders were invited afresh for 27 buildings (under nine lots) for construction of 'A class' flats and proposals for five lots were approved.
The remaining lots are awaiting re-tender.
Flats of the project were supposed to be handed over to the buyers in 2016.
