Fugro opens new branch office in BD

Fugro, one of the world's leading and independent providers of geo-intelligence and asset integrity solutions, opened its new branch office in Dhaka on Tuesday.

The Dutch multinational company opened its office here to support the rapidly growing liquefied natural gas (LNG), power, mining, building and infrastructure, and oil and gas industries of Bangladesh.

Fugro is associated with Bangladesh for more than three decades.

Regional Director of Fugro MEI & Bangladesh Mike Dravitzki inaugurated the office in the capital at a ceremony.

Managing Director of Fugro India/Bangladesh Bibhu Nayak and Country Manager of Fugro India Santanu Moitra were also present and spoke on the occasion.

After inaugurating the office, Dravitzki said Fugro is currently engaged with coal and mining projects of Bangladesh.

"Our branch office demonstrates Fugro's strong commitment to the Bangladesh market," he added.

In his address, Santanu Moitra said: "Now we want to stay here and hence organised this conference to represent our willingness and commitment to serve Bangladesh."

"By increasing our local presence here, we are providing advanced Marine solutions and services to the marine segments of the economy. We are here for mutual benefits by transferring/sharing advanced technology and development of local people in Bangladesh." said Bibhu Nayak.

Other speakers at the programme said the new branch office was opened as part of the company's expansion to increase its presence in key growth markets, including Bangladesh.

Fargo first started its involvement in Bangladesh with the Jamuna Bridge project.

Its latest project here is the FSRU terminal, the first offshore LNG terminal. Beximco, Excelerate Energy and Summit are also involved with the LNG Terminal for FSRU and LNG projects.

Fugro is providing precise positioning, hydrographic, geophysical, geotechnical, oceanographic, marine construction support and ROV-based services for more than 55 years.

The company is also providing superior surveying solutions timely, safely and in the most cost effective way.
