German entrepreneurs will send their formal investment proposal to the government soon aiming to increase bilateral trade between the two countries, a joint chamber leader said.

He said the German businessmen who visited the country last week have expressed their interest to invest in different sectors.

"We had meetings with the German businessmen. They have expressed their interest to invest in communication, water treatment, waste management and spare parts manufacturing sectors," president of Bangladesh German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BGCCI) Sakhawat Abu Khair told the FE.

Wilhelm G Clasen, Member of the Board of the German Asia-Pacific Business Association (OAV) and Chairman of OAV Bangladesh Committee led the 10-member delegation.

Mr Khair said that the German businessmen are also highly interested to invest in producing electricity from garbage and waste.

He said that BGCCI has planned to send a delegation to Germany in the next couple of months to help attract more German investment in the country.

"We have a plan to visit Germany in August 2014. We will discuss with the German businessmen to get them attracted to invest," he said.
