German envoy visits PHP industrial park

CHITTAGONG, Nov 14: German Ambassador in- charge Ferdinand Vonwei who visited the PHP industrial park at Sitakunda on Thursday said he was overwhelmed to see the industrial park.

"I think the PHP family is playing a pioneering role in the economic advancement of the country," he commented and praised contribution of the PHP Group in different industrial sectors.

On his arrival in the factory managing director of PHP Float Glass Industry Amir Hossain Sohail accorded him warm welcome. The German Ambassador landed in the industrial park from the helicopter owned by the PHP family.

The Ambassador said Germany and Bangladesh are close friends and both the countries are maintaining a very close bilateral relation and contributing a lot in the export and import trade of both the countries. He hoped that relations between the two countries will grow further in the days to come.

Third Secretary of German embassy Mathius Keller and directors of PHP Group Md Anwarul Hoque, Md Amir Hossain Sohail and Md Zahirul Islam accompanied the Ambassador.

Executive Director of the PHP Float Glass Shamsul Alam briefed the envoy on the glass industry. Later, the envoy visited the PHP Steel Complex. Senior Executive Director of the Steel Complex Aita Koilashom briefed him on the plant.
