Jewellers said the new charts of gold and silver prices will come into effect from today (Sunday).
The Bangladesh Jewellers Samity said on Saturday that it has increased per bori of gold at Tk 1,596 after the price hike in the international market.
It said the prices of gold have dropped thrice in the international market over the past few months.
The association routinely adjusts the prices of gold in the local market in conformity with the international market.
The prices of gold slumped on August 5, July 22 and March 9 this year.
According to the new price charts, per bori of high or best quality (22 caret) of gold is fixed at Tk 43,273, which was sold at Tk 41,757 yesterday. Per bori of 21-caret gold will be sold at Tk 41,974, which was at Tk 39,657.
Per bori of 18 caret of gold has now been fixed at Tk 34,525, which was Tk 33,009 on Saturday.
On the other hand per bori of traditional gold will be sold at Tk 23,095, which was Tk 21,870 on Saturday, showing an increase of Tk 1,225 per bori.
Apart from the gold, the prices of silver have also increased.
From now on per bori of silver will be sold at Tk 991, which was sold at Tk 933 last week.
In the international market per ounce of gold was sold at US$1,159 on Saturday, which was $1,120 earlier. One ounce of gold is equivalent to 31.103 grams.
