Govt appoints administrator for BASIS

The government has appointed Dr. Muhammed Mehedi Hassan, additional secretary of ICT division, as administrator of the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) after abolishing its board of directors.

The commerce ministry issued an order in this regard on Wednesday.

The administrator will conduct a free, fair and transparent election within 120 days and hand over charge to the new elected committee, a source said.

The commerce ministry believes that it is essential to operate BASIS in accordance with the relevant laws, as well as the memorandum and articles of association of the organisation, to ensure the continuity of its activities. In light of this, the government has appointed an administrator to oversee the organisation.
