Govt executes 30 agri projects

Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury said Monday the government in the current fiscal year (FY), 2013-14, has implemented 30 projects and 136 programmes under Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC), reports BSS.
The minister said to gear up the agriculture extension activities, the government is also implementing 30 projects and 76 programmes more.
Matia Chowdhury said this while replying to a question of treasury bench member Nizam Uddin Hazari in the Jatiya Sangsad.
Besides, Bangladesh Television is airing two prgrammes "Mati o Manush" and "Banglar Krishi", based on agriculture, to help farmers get necessary agri-info, she said.
Bangladesh Radio is also airing programmes on agriculture from its national and regional centres, she added.
To another question, the veteran parliamentarian said the BADC has set up 23 cold storages across the country. Of those, 19 are for potato seeds preservation and four for vegetable, fruits and fish preservation, she said.
