Commerce Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir on Friday said the new democratic government remained firmly committed to further deepening and strengthening Bangladesh-China bilateral relations based on mutual respect, sovereignty, equality, and a shared partnership for peace and prosperity.
"The record participation of Bangladeshi companies in this year's expo reflects our commitment to expanding bilateral economic and trade cooperation," he said.
The Bangladesh Day programme was held at a local hotel in Kunming on the second day of the six-day international trade fair.
Among others, Bangladesh Ambassador to China Md Nazmul Islam, Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) Mohammad Hasan Arif, and President of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Liu Qi Lin addressed the event.
Senior officials from Bangladesh's Ministry of Commerce and EPB, Bangladesh's Consulate General in Kunming, business leaders accompanying the minister, and representatives of Bangladeshi and Chinese trade bodies were also present.
Muktadir described the occasion as a special moment for Bangladesh, saying that celebrating Bangladesh Day in the hospitable city of Kunming symbolised the deep friendship and mutual trust nurtured between the two countries over the years.
