Govt plans generating \\\'24,000mw electricity by 2021\\\'

State Minister for Power Nasrul Hamid on Sunday said that the government plans to generate 24,000 MW of electricity by 2021.

He urged all the officials and employees under the Power Division to work sincerely to achieve this target, reports UNB.

Addressing a review meeting on the project implementation progress of the Annual Development Programme (ADP) in the city, Nasrul Hamid said the government wants to maintain the continuity in the development works.

The state minister suggested all to keep vigil about the security of all power stations and also their timely maintenance.

The meeting also discussed ongoing projects of different public and private entities under the Power Division.

Nasrul Hamid directed the officials to complete the implementation of ongoing power projects in time to achieve the government's power generation target.

Power Secretary Monwar Islam, PDB Chairman Abduhu Ruhullah, Rural Electrification Board (REB) Chairman Brig Gen Moin Uddin were, among others, present at the meeting.
