Govt prioritises AI skills for future growth, says Minister

The government is giving the highest priority on developing an artificial intelligence-skilled workforce, with the government viewing AI as a cornerstone of future economic growth, job creation and technological competitiveness, a minister said on Saturday.
Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam said the government was committed to creating an enabling environment for AI research, innovation and human resource development.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration of the Artificial Intelligence Research Laboratory and the AI Project Competition 2026 at Daffodil International University (DIU) in Savar.
The newly inaugurated AI Research Laboratory features 25 NVIDIA DGX Spark workstations as its front-end facility and five high-performance computers equipped with RTX 3060 and RTX 4090 graphics processing units (GPUs).
Following the inauguration, the minister distributed prizes to 12 winning teams across six categories selected from 145 AI projects exhibited at the competition.
The programme was chaired by Dr Md Sabur Khan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Daffodil International University.
